Different Types of Species and their Descriptions

The classification of species is important in understanding the diversity of life on Earth and in studying the relationships between different organisms.

In biology, all plants and animals are divided into different species. In this article let's look at the different types of species :

Name of the Species

Description

Morpho species

These are the species erected on the bases of morphological characters.

Taxonomic species

These species have a definite binomial name.

Sibling species

The species that do not interbreed, but are difficult to separate on the basis of morphological characters.

Allopatric species

Species having exclusive geographic areas are called allopatric species

Sympatric species

These species have overlapping areas of geographic distribution.

Parapatric species

These species have adjacent geographic range meeting in a very narrow zone of overlap

Neontological Species

Living species

Allochronic species

The species belonging to different time periods

Synchronic species

The species belonging to the same period of time.

Polytypic species

These species have more than one ideal type according to their geographically isolated areas.
