Fungi have some distinct characters, let's have a look at them.
1. Fungi reproduce both by asexual and sexual methods.
2. In fungi there are three stages of sexual reproduction :
(i) Plasmogany (fusion of cytoplasm)
(ii) Karyogany (fusion of nuclei)
(iii) Meiosis
3. They are decomposers and mineralisers of the biosphere like bacteria.
4. Fungi have a double-envelope cellular organization.
5. In fungi cell wall is present it is composed of chitin.
6. They are multicellular, eukaryotic and non-chlorophyllous organisms.
